K-pop group NewJeans ends contract with ADOR following Min Hee-Jin’s resignation

NewJeans, the popular K-pop girl group, held an emergency press conference on November 28, 2024, to announce their official departure from their agency, ADOR [a subsidiary of HYBE]. This decision follows Min Hee-Jin’s resignation last week and a 14-day ultimatum given by the group earlier in the month, demanding changes from ADOR regarding significant breaches of their contract and management issues.
The group cited the company’s “inability to protect the members” as one of the primary reasons for terminating their contracts, effective midnight on November 29, 2024.
During the press conference, Hanni, speaking on behalf of the group, emphasised the psychological toll and inefficiencies they experienced under the agency. The group had earlier provided a detailed list of demands, including an apology for managerial mistreatment and solutions for unresolved disputes related to their creative work. ADOR’s response came just hours before the press conference but was deemed insufficient by the group, leading to their decision to leave.
NewJeans includes 5 members—Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein and debuted in 2022. They became popular with instant hits like Attention and Hype Boy, earning widespread acclaim.
Meanwhile, Min Hee-jin had revealed that she will be taking legal actions against HYBE over the controversy that started in April 2024.
